Chongism Vol. 2: The Infinite Imagination & Your Self-Identity

Chongism VoL 2: The Infinite Imagination & Your Self-Identity

Hello!

Come in! Come in!

Welcome back to The Chongism Newsletter!

As always, I am grateful for your time and decision to read this newsletter.

The topic of this volume came from a conference room at work.

It kinda went like this:

I was walking into a community conference room when a coworker asked,

“Hey David, Would you ever cosplay?”

I told him, “No. Probably not.”

and he asked, “Why not?”

Then, in the most “David” way possible, the idea for this newsletter began to sprout.

It is the idea that

You are in complete control of what ideas you entertain and how you engage with your infinite imagination in creating your Self-Identity.

In life, you will be presented with millions of different ideas, and you get to choose what ideas you want to relate to.

Ideas can be anything.

  • Pink
  • Liver
  • Fishing
  • Cheese
  • Painting
  • Tax Forms
  • The Moon
  • Rock Climbing

If an idea/word exists, someone has the capability to go all-in on that interest.

The degree to which you ‘invest in an idea’ is directly proportionate to how you identify yourself to the world.

Would you consider yourself a lover of the color pink? Are you all about everything pink?

No? Ok, cool.

All ideas and interests vary on a spectrum of

  • “I honestly don’t care about it at all (with no opinion)” to
  • “I am so heavily invested in this idea that it is how I express myself to others.”

The main takeaway here?

You will be presented with a million different ideas in your lifetime (your imagination and other people’s imagination knows no bounds), and you have the power to discern whether you want to entertain the idea or not.

Think about the ideas as they come and only adopt ideas that appeal to your ideal vision of life.

If somewhere deep, inside yourself, you’ve always wanted to dress up as your favorite fictional character. Then you would have said yes to my coworker. Maybe you would entertain the idea around Halloween when it’s less out of character. Maybe you have little to no interest in it at all.

Remember, your imagination is infinite.

That means you can have wild and crazy or simple, plain ideas to express yourself.

And the kicker— You don’t have to identify with every idea that comes into your life.

You are in complete control of:

  • the ideas you want to entertain and
  • the degree to which you want to act on and express the idea.

If you come across an idea that you don’t like, then you can ignore it. Fill your mind with ideas that you actually want instead.

Ok,

.

.

.

So the imagination is infinite; this can help explain why we are the way we are as humans.

The ideas with which we express ourselves are influenced by a few means:

  • Media
  • Your family
  • Entertainment
  • Your closest friends
  • Anyone you choose to spend time with regularly
  • Your own personal issues and problems

You are bombarded daily with ‘idea’ after ‘idea’ after ‘idea’.

If your ideas are based on the media, you may have strong opinions and ideologies about:

  • Gas price
  • Your sexuality
  • The state of the world

Now, if you know you’re in complete control of your life and you can create the perfect life of your dreams, how long will you entertain these ideas?

Are you going to be so obsessed with gas prices that you’re going to lobby major gas corporations and congress?

Or were you just looking for something to ‘complain and do nothing’ about?

Either way, only you will know if something resonates with you or not.

You don’t even have to associate ideas together.

If you’re a male that likes to wear makeup and put on women’s clothing (plot twist), you can still strictly sexually prefer women! Shocker!

These ideas are flexible, guys. You can think about something and never take action on it. Just because an idea is in your head doesn’t mean you have to entertain or act on it.

Ideas aren’t real until you make the effort to express them physically into reality.

Ideas that stick to emotions

Have you ever had a thought that disturbed you so emotionally that you couldn’t stop thinking about it?

If not, consider yourself healthy.

The ideas can come from other people as well.

Did someone says something, and you feel offended or uncomfortable? Have you ever been in an argument with a person and couldn’t stop thinking about that person?

Your emotions play a critical role in what you think and act out into the world. If your emotional body is not feeling well, then your mind and actions will reflect it.

There are circumstances where ideas block energy centers in an individual that cause an extremely uncomfortable emotional response.

If you have ever had or heard a ‘thought’ or ‘idea’ that made you feel emotionally disturbed, then you’ve unintentionally and abruptly closed your energy centers. It’s like someone going 60mph in heavy traffic and slamming their breaks far too late. There will be a crash in your emotions that could make you go cold, uncomfortable, or even overly aggressive. These responses can stem from insecurities or trauma.

In another newsletter, I’ll show you how to change negative emotional patterns into positive ones and release those blockages.

But for now, be mindful that you do not have to emotionally identify with any idea or feeling; It’s not the idea that’s causing the emotional response; it’s the feeling.

If you can release the blocked feeling, then the ideas no longer bother you.

Take Full Responsibility of Your Life and Circumstances

Now that you know that ‘it is possible to control how you feel in any situation‘, you are, and always have been, in complete control of your own life, destiny, and what goes on in your mind.

Because you’re in full responsibility of your life, there is no one to blame about your problems or circumstances other than yourself.

The quicker you can recognize ideas that don’t matter to your ideal life vision, the quicker you will achieve that vision.

Take some time to know exactly what you want out of life and begin traveling down that path.

You don’t have to be influenced by anyone’s opinion except your own.

  • Do you like this idea or not?
  • Is this idea useful to your ideal vision of life or not?

Other people’s opinions should never matter when you’re building your authentic self with ideas you truly want to associate yourself with.

If you let other people’s opinions of you affect you, you will be doomed to create a life that isn’t yours by design.

It is the complete opposite of spiritual freedom.

If you’re unconscious of these things, you’re probably where you are in life because of the influences of other people. You may even resent and blame others for the circumstances of your life. You might also feel like a victim.

Live your life how you truly want to live it!

The only warning I can provide is that:

If “what you want” harms another person or group of people physically, mentally, or emotionally, then be prepared for consequences from outside yourself in the form of random misfortune.

I’ll end this newsletter off with a line from William Ernest Henley’s poem, Invictus:

If you haven’t already, take some time to reflect on yourself, write down, and clarify exactly what kind of vision you want for your own life. Write down a list of ideas of ‘what you truly want for yourself’ and only be positively influenced by ideas you resonate with.

Until next time and with much love,

David Chong
